Brienne has been training AT LEAST a decade longer than Arya, so her skill should be greater. It was established in season one that Brienne is one of the better fighters in Westeros. She decisively defeated the Knight of Flowers in Renly's tournament.

Strength and reach are also equalizers against skill, so assuming Arya was magically equal to Brienne, or even a bit better, the big lady should still win most bouts. With a shorter sword, shorter arms, and a decade less training, Arya has no realistic advantages over Brienne.

The idea that big, strong people are slower with a sword is a trope. And a stupid one. Greater strength means greater control, and that translates to more speed.

A sword is a bit different than your fists: half of it moves faster than you can move any part of your body. The speed at which you can swing it or change its direction has more to do with how much force you can apply. In my experience big guys 4me are fucking fast. Their footwork may not be quite as quick, but they can move a longer blade faster than I can, so they usually win.

I'm not going to pretend that winning KL isn't a huge victory for any claimant to the throne, but in the ASoIaF universe this actually happens during the Dance of Dragons (Targ civil war).

Rhaenyra and her forces trick the royal army into mobilizing outside the capital (King Viserys included), and she swoops in on her dragon and takes the castle, all of whom inside immediately surrender to her.

But the war ends up going on despite that, and her remaining dragons get killed during various battles/events. She ends up having to smuggle herself out of Kings Landing, and gets captured and executed at Dragonstone.

So yes, having KL is a huge deal, but it's not the end all be all. And also yes, this post is super autistic.
