I powered through the first few books when I had nothing else to read a few years ago, got as far as the one with roland being a pussy whipped teenager and had to stop it was so bad, so not being faithful to the source isn't much of a concern.

I usually try to average the audience score with the critic score. I started doing that after the Iron Fist bullshit. Sure, it really wasn't that good of a show but they gave it like 18%.

I suspect it'll be a fun movie but culturally insignficant, hence the disparity between the scores.

Nothing wrong with that though, I actually think we need more movies of that type. Nowadays they generally get flattened out by test audiences but the 80s and 90s had tons of them.
