What's the worst movie to win the Palme?
>>
>>85842175
There's a pretty good case that it's the one you posted.
>>
>>85842175
Tree of Life
>>
>>85842175
not the worst but i really didn't care for uncle boonmee
>>
>>85844063
Uncle Boonmee was inoffensive. Maybe it didn't deserve to win but at least it wasn't outright shit like Dheepan or I Daniel Blake.
>>
>>85842175
This decade (from best to worst):

Tree of Life > Uncle Boonmee > Winter Sleep > Blue Lesbians > Amour > I, Daniel Blake > Dheepan
>>
>>85844262
I think Amour should be above Winter Sleep and Blue Dyke Porn but solid list otherwise.
>>
>>85842175
Fahrenheit 9/11. I, Daniel Blake and Dheepan are not great movies, but at least they are watchable. Fahrenheit 9/11 was nothing more but a political statement.
>>
Dancer in the Dark
>>
What you posted OP. What a piece of fucking shit that film is. Wasted my life watching that trash
>>
>>85844262
>Tree of life
there is no better film in the last 15 years
>>
>>85842175
So what's so bad about this? Left-wing bias?
>>
>>85845459
What's it about
>>
>>85845524
Because everybody in the film that is working class are shown to be completely earnest, morally perfect people 100% of the time while the reverse is shown for anybody with even a slither of power, with the exception of the corner shop owner that pays for the woman's groceries. It's literally Socialism the movie: Strawman edition. Embarrassing to watch especially when you're from the area depicted in the movie and know the utter degenerates some of the characters would be irl

A working class man that gets injured so he can't work anymore, meaning he has to get on benefits to live but the system shown in the film makes it borderline impossible for him to do so
>>
>>85842175
Some glorified TV movie/softcore porno about how courageous faggots are. I don't know which one, of which I'm confident there are many, but I know that's probably a more than sufficient and valid answer.

not even the best movie of that year
>>
>>85845784
I don't think any film like that ever won the Palme.

>>85845784
>softcore porno
Sure.
>about how courageous faggots are
No. That would be Oscar bait.
>>
>>85845813
Odd adaptation that changes numerous details of the story for no apparent reason, and that would be absolutely baffling to a first-time viewer who didn't have the ability to pause and rewind (and obviously who hadn't read the book or something either). It has a nice style to it, and John Hurt is magnificent, but it's a bit of a meme film tbqh.
>>
>>85846199
tree of life is more a meme film that this one
>>

Haven't seen it.

Ignore the pleb. Watch the trailer, if it looks like you'd enjoy it then you will if you watch it with an open mind.
>>
>watch the trailer
>the movie is nothing like the trailer

sure watch the trailer, and watch the movie, then regret it

>She was special. Yeah, she was special, Daisy. Not easy. She was up one minute, down the next. Smart and funny. Huh. Ah, that lass made me laugh. Kind. She had a big, big heart. But... She said her head was like the ocean. Dead still, then wild. Never knew where she'd end up next. I mean, the music helped that. But then she'd hit the rocks. "Where'll we sail to tonight, Dan?" That was our little joke. Her last words to me were, "I wanna sail away, Dan, with the wind at me back."That's all I need, Dan."

daniel blake and tree of life were good as fuck what are you guys even talking about. Contrarian kids these days I swear
>>
>>85848214
Tree of Life is good. Daniel Blake is trash. TV movie production values and performances, some very forced drama, and some truly horrendous dialogue. See: >>85847816

Daniel Blake is good. Tree of Life is trash.
>>
>>85845512
This anon is right . Didn't see Daniel Blake but it looks like trash
>>
>>85848873
Tree of Life had some deep and amazing dialog like *spins around* *points at sky* "that's where G-d lives". Really jiggled my beans.
>>
>>85849056
how would you convey divinity to a five year old? The dialogue in Daniel Blake is horrendously pretentious, by comparison.

just off the top of my head. Been a long time since I watched it. And how it the opposite true for everyone else? Are you talking about the government employees? Have you ever been to that kind of office? That's literally how most clerks act. "Oh it looks like this one inconsequential form is not filled out exactly how I've always seen it done in my 3 months of experience. Sorry I can't help you, go back to square 1, bye."

Hey

Stopp shit talking that movie.

I have not seen it but it came from my country so I have to hope it is good

What's the best movie NOT to win the Palme?
>>
>>85849480
Are you kidding? Why are you presenting the things that happened in the film in such a dishonest way? The most annoying thing is that you're not even wrong that the characters did these things, you're just being subversive on purpose.
>woman starts eating shit in the poor folk supermarket
Yeah, she suffers a break down and Ken Loach makes damn sure that we're supposed to sympathise with her for it, she's been beaten down by the system and she's starving as a result. It's done so that the audience is supposed to hate the system that has led to it, not so the audience thinks she's "bad".
>black kid sets up an illegal contraband ring
First off, it isn't illegal. Second, it's shown in an obviously light hearted way, just a working class lad using a nifty tactic to make money while, again, living in a shit system that fucks the working class. You have triggered the absolute fuck out of me

Obviously not an inconsequential form if the consequence of your inability to read is having to start the process again is it fuckwit? Oddly enough systems that involve handing out large sums of cash for nothing on a daily basis need to be water-tight, that involves a lot of bureaucratic bullshit nobody wants to have to deal with, there's nothing malicious about it, drop the persecution complex.
