Nah, he did have some phobias though. But I'd argue that pretty much all modern humans have scars in their psyche these days. And virtually every man has pined over the one who's gotten away, the one who made life full of magic and wonder and when they left it made everything dark.

That is one hell of a wonderful movie, undoubtedly the finest thing Carrey has ever done, I saw it twice in theaters and probably watched the movie a dozen times.

It really has a great message too. About how sometimes you have to power through life to get what you want and throw caution to the wind. There is a type of comfortable security in every day being exactly the same, but that's incredibly caustic to the human spirit.
