Which genre is more kino? Fantasy or ScFi
>>85823023
Science Fantasy is the ultimate Kino like Star Wars
Sci-fi
I was going to make a similar thread with Westerns vs Vietnam films

Scfi is for geeks Fantasy is for Geeks.
Horror is true kino
>>85823023
Sci-fag myself, but the best outcome would be when someone mixes both and does it right.

Post apocalyptic

Scifi. Relies less on magic and more on reality
>>85823023
Doesn't matter most things are a mixture

Magic and very advanced Technology are pretty much the same thing
>>85824272
This.
Mass Effect is a ScFi game and biotics is basically space magic and it's pretty explained as advanced technology though head implants
I would perhaps say sci-fi, but really only if it's so subtle that it veers into magical realism (such as Tarkovsky's "STALKER").
"Hard" or "realistic" takes on both of these genres are oxymoronic and universally make for terrible cinema.

When the writer is a hack, certainly.

>Hasn't read Wheel of Time or Shadow of the Torturer
Granted both dipped in quality because the plot should have ended sooner, but the "magic" systems were creative, consistent, something not Tolkien, and were entertaining to read
>>85824771
Both reach out of our realm off possibilities. Also I prefer Scfi as Fantasy has a bad habit of being stuck in a medieval era with old english

Illusions
They're illusions
