For me it was the plot, I just didn't really find it all that interesting. Like they tried to have all this interplay going on between the characters and play up the poltical intrigue aspect, but they lost the most defining aspect of season 1 which is the two detective's obsession with solving that case, once they realized they were up basically up against pure evil it made sense why they'd be willing to go to any lengths to solve the mystery and catch the bad guys. In season 2 I was left wondering why the fuck did the detectives even put up with all of the shit shoveling? To crack down on some corrupt cops and officials? They had ample oppportunity to just pass the buck and go on with their lives, but for some reason chose to try and crack the case and getting killed or nearly killed in the process.
