Series 8 is actually my favorite series behind 5. I just fucking adore almost every episode of the series. The only ones that were really quite shit were KtM and Forest. Death In Heaven pissed me off at the time but I eventually came to appreciate it as a decent finale. I love the dyamic between Clara and 12, and rude and sarcastic as fuck 12 was entertaining as hell to watch, although I was fine with him softening up in later series. It focuses on the trial of Danny's killer and the other case that Alec failed to solve before coming to Broadchurch.
Season 3 is a bit different, there's a new case of a different nature and it's about solving that. I didn't think season 3 was very good though and it doesn't gel together in a very satisfying manner, still probably worth a watch though.
