"An exploitation film is a film that attempts to succeed financially by exploiting current trends, niche genres, or lurid content. Exploitation films are generally low-quality 'B-Movies'. Even so, they sometimes attract critical attention and cult followings."

>decade
Try century. It's been 15 years since this started and it shows no sign of slowing down. Cinema and capeshit are going to become synonymous within your lifetime.

YA THINK ?!??!!?
the problem with film studies is that vocabulary like this is completely up to interpretation and perspective. A B-movie doesn't necessarily have to be low budget, but most people consider B-movies to be schlocky flying saucer movies like the stuff Roger Corman put out. Film study is ultimately pointless because movies are for fun, anyway, which is why this thread is gay.
Like it or not, the Marvel cinematic universe is the most critically acclaimed anthology project in movie history, and will go down as a triumph of the first half of the 21st century. You can cry about it. You can stomp your feet and punch the wall. But it's a fact, and there's nothing you can do to change it.

"Most critically acclaimed" may be pushing it, but like it or not it will go down in history.
Member when your parents/family talked about how Lou Ferrigno was amazing? We'll be doing the same in our sixties with RDJ or Chris Evans (generally speaking).
