Look at this old bitch. She's the villain of Friday the 13th.
"But Jason is!"
No he's not, and in the sequel he wears a stupid bag on his head.
How was Friday the 13th popular enough to merit the two sequels required to gain the infamous hockey mask?
It's like if A Nightmare on Elm Street 1 was about the local pastor and not a wisecracking dream demon, or if Halloween 1 was about an evil tax collector. How did a series with such a bad start stay popular enough to eventually become good?
Have moviegoers always eaten up schlock no matter how terrible and unnoteworthy?

Sorry, I forgot, /tv/ doesn't watch movies less than five years old.
>>85762938
You go to remember that this came out in 1980, Anon. People weren't really accustomed to the slasher genre yet so it was new and exciting. Besides Black Christmas, what else is there to compare this to? That being said, it is a pretty weak movie now compared to the others. Part 3 is top tier.

The first movie, and to a lesser extent the second, copied Italian giallo films from the 70s. Her reveal as the killer was the kind of twist you usually see in those movies.

You honestly think part 3 is one of the worst?
1. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI: JASON LIVES
2. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART IV: THE FINAL CHAPTER
3. FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980)
4. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD
5. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN
6. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III
7. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART II
8. FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009)
9. FREDDY VS. JASON
10. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V: A NEW BEGINNING
11. JASON X
12. JASON GOES TO HELL: THE FINAL FRIDAY

i was exaggerating but i dont really like it that match. 2 & 3 are the just kinda whatever for me but they arent the worst
>>85763812
I almost agree with you, brother. How can 3 be worse than 8 though? God damn, am I the only person that loves 3?
>>85763878
8 starts off really bad but it really picks up when they actually arrive at manhattan and i love it
ive seen a lot of love for 3 but its just okay to me personally
>>85763878
I like part 3 a lot too but it would have been hugely improved if Shelley and Vera had been the main characters.
