>ask for citizenship, a house, military pension, and a medal in exchange for killing Hitler
>entire deal done over the radio
>his word against the general's
>kill Hitler
>"Deal? What deal? We don’t owe you anything but the noose."

Now what?
>>
>>85732557
why not honor it? At that point it doesn't matter, Hitler's dead
>>
>>85732734
Why honor it when Hitler's dead? Hans Landa killed his leverage and he isn't needed anymore.
>>
>>85732557
because that's how you get those deals in the first place. If you don't honor your deals you don't get any easy deals to kill hitler. I actually turned this movie off not long after the start and never finished it till years later. Tarantino owed someone a favor in jewlywood so had to make this turd of a film complete with hitler kill/whiteman rapists/irrational jew hate/black love interest/feminist memes.
>>
>>85732557
He didn't know that Americans were such dishonorable pieces of shit.
>>
>>85732557
I'm sure he got everything he wanted but he has to walk around with a swastika on his head.
>>
>>85733504
It's almost like that was the title and theme of the movie.
>>
>>85732557
>Now what?
the movie is about how americans are the bad guys and nazis were the good guys
>>
>>85733628
Yeah, did he seriously not even look at the opening credits?
>>
>>85732910
The point was that the audience acts like the nazis did during the screening, that's why he has a propaganda movie inside his propaganda movie.
>>
>>85732557
because brits werent trash like you yankee scum and the jerry could trust toms word
>>
>>85732910
>If you don't honor your deals you don't get any easy deals to kill hitler.
This is actually true from a historical perspective. Many of the Nazi scientists chose to surrender to the U.S. rather than the U.S.S.R. If the U.S. didn't keep its promises and just killed key Nazis, the Soviets would have taken them and given them decent (for a Communist regime) living arrangements.
>>
>>85732557
There's not really any evidence to suggest the American brass would have dishonoured the deal.

The people who betrayed him were called Inglourious Basterds for a reason.
>>
the allies were the real bad guys of WWII
>>
>>85733761
this unironically really made me think
>>
>>85732910
>Tarantino owed someone a favor in jewlywood so had [...]
>forgets the scenes with Americans and British slaughtering German soldiers
The film went completely over your head. Are you an idiot?
>>
What would be the rough outcome if the events of the film happened how would it effect the first say 20 years after the war?
>>
>>85735644
I'm sorry was I supposed to be disgusted by hollywood after seeing this film and that was tarantino's point?

This guy almost killed Hitler and the entire Nazi high command with a massive time bomb. Hitler left early and so the bomb went off 20 mins late, when almost no one was left in the building. It's not the one from the movie Valkyrie with Tom Cruise either, this way earlier.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Georg_Elser#Bombing

If something like that actually succeeded, it might have fucked the whole world up. Imagine postponing WWII for a few years, until all sides have world-ending WMD's.

I always did (and still kinda do honestly) thought Tarantino was a hack, but the more I think about the more realize this was an incredibly subversive movie and absolutely no main stream critics picked up on it because they were so busy circle jerking over "the ultimate Jewish revenge porn".
>>
>>85736437
The thing you're talking about was in 1939. This movie takes place in 1944 and 1945, and we know this because

>Aldo mentions "an Armada heading over to France"
>The Americans already have lines in France by the end

So it would really make very little difference. Hitler dies a few months earlier and that's about it.
>>
Tarantino accidentally redpilled people to not trust Jews and their lackeys to keep a deal
>>
>>85736415
>>85736487

I don't follow
>>
I don't get it, I'm not a stormfag by any means but I hated the Jewess and the IBs.

I even acknowledge that she had a good justification for revenge and yet still hate her and am glad she died in the end.
>>
>>85736916
If Hitler dies before he orders the Kursk offensive, it's possible that one of his generals could have salvaged a decent defense of the German homeland against the Soviets. They'd still be in an impossible position, but maybe could get a more favorable outcome than total destruction and partitioning.

>>
>>85737077
I didn't hate her but the nazi characters were kind of funny and interesting
the anti-nazi gang was incredibly violent too, so each side was kind of balanced in a way

Because Germans are actually men of honour who stick to their word out of principle, he made the mistake of assuming the Am*ricans are the same
>>
>>85737137
Kursk was in 1943. By the the time the Inglorious Basterds even appear on screen it's already 1944, and by the time Landa's plan is carried out it's at least the summer of 1944.
>>
>>85736845
He's more subversive and subtle that both leftist critics and /tv/ neo nazis give him credit for. Django also has some stuff like Django not being the one who kills Candy, another white man does it, meanwhile Django's real final enemy is the house nigger, the most perfidious of them all. It's not the 'black slave kills white people' /pol/ tried to sell it as. And the BBC scene in H8 is a fictional story a character says to trigger the old guy so he can shoot him first, and the movie ends with both the equally despicable racist redneck and the nigger who lied about Lincoln's letter dying together for nothing. I don't even think he realizes it, I think he just enjoys violence in movie and doesn't care about political messages.
>>
>>85737208
The Americans did stick to their word...the whole point of carving up Landa was Aldo's frustration that he knew Landa was getting away with it and he wanted to make sure that at the very least he'd be ostracized as a Nazi.

Stupid plan anyway, Landa could just wear his hair forward or claim to be a Nazi victim.
>>
>>85737230
Can't be that far into summer because Paris was liberated mid-August '44.
>>
>>85737230
yeah so it really doesn't matter then

russia would have plowed their way to berlin whether hitler was alive or dead and the rest of the allies would have probably done the same
>>
>>85737335
Hitler also didn't die in a theatre in Paris
>>
>>85737335
Yeah, I was thinking the climax of the movie was in June, around the same time as D-Day.
>>
>>85733761
holy shit...
>>
>>85737279
I think he just likes fucking with people.
>>
>>85737279
Tarantino never struck me as an extreme lefty like Joe Sweden or some of these other directors. In Inglorious Basterds you can tell that the whole movie was spawned from something he probably thought up while he was getting stoned, like dude what if there was a band of Jewish soldiers who went around ambushing and killing Nazis. It's a funny premise and it works because the average person doesn't really know much about WW2 other than the Nazis were evil and they hated Jews. All I'm saying is that there's no deeper political signaling going on, its just glorified comedic revenge.

Same story with Django, like dude what if a slave got his freedom and then took revenge on some evil slave owner. Again, we're not discussing philosophy here, its just a premise for this same style of revenge driven action / comedy movie that he's been doing forever.
>>
>>85738069

he is just re-hashing movies from the 70s. that's it. putting his own "twist" on it.

its not that inventive.

I'm sure in 5 years you can do shitty 90s VHS plot movies. some frat party and they find a time machine and get Abe Lincoln to help with the DJ's music list and he gets an A+ and fucks the cheer leader.

the end
>>
>>85737075
Inglourious Basterds is a film meant to make the audience look at themselves and question why the revel so much in violence.
>>
>>85738196
>makes violent movies
>get criticized for using n word and making violent movies
>its the audience's fault

sure

It's pretty obvious the deal would be honored.
Landa was by far the most intelligent person in the movie, and it could be argued he let Shoshanna escape, secretly set her up in the movie house and arranged everything to assassinate Hitler
>>
>>85732557
There is nothing indicating that the deal wasn't honored, he just got a scar.
>>
>>85738830
I don't think he let her escape on the off chance he'd be able to set the rest up, but I 100% agree that he recognized her and then decided maybe he could use her to defect--especially since it would have been obvious to anyone as smart as him that the third reich was on its last legs by the time all this happens.
>>
>>85738304
>being this pleb.
>>
>>85738611
This may be true, but that's true of basically all film, tv or novels in general. Even if it is true, his movies are still more original and imaginative than probably more than 90% of movies coming out at that time, in a sea of reboots, sequels, and manufactured, engineered, over produced crap
>>
>>85738304
>missing the point this much
