I think 2 hours is a fuck lot for a vivillain. And I dnt know about the retirement but its most likely because no one without strong superpowers stand much of a chance against Thanos and anyone above him as he is Skyfather level even without gems and they are a little pointless in fights of that scale when theres already lots of superheroes active in their universe. Iron Man is what? City buster? Cap is a district buster? Lol they would get wiped by thanos without ANY gems, but the whole team MAY beat him using the right strategy. He is like 10x stronger than Thor even so the whole team is actually necessary to beat him.

Only someone with GOAT tier magic and preparation time like dr. Strange and Doctor Doom could defeat Thanos but doctor doom isn't canon in infinity war so they screwed lol.
