What are some examples of glaring critic/audience disconnects?
This movie was so good but the people in my theater hated it. At the end the guy in front of me said out loud "That was ridiculous" and then the lady next to him asked "So what was the moral of that story" and in general were just mocking it.
I don't get it, I thought it was amazing and actually instills a sense of dread throughout the whole movie.

I've noticed it's a semi-common theme with lighthearted comedy films, are critics just too far up themselves or are audiences just massive plebs?
Proof general audience and critics are pleb, this is PTA's masterpiece

This shit was confusing and boring.
>>85626185
Wow, HUGE disconnect between the fun hating critics and the audiences just looking for some good old fashioned raunchy, R-rated, litty summer fun!

You have to go back

Critics have a real hardon for shitting on Adam Sandler, but I genuinely enjoy most of his movies. Sure the humor is a bit "childish" but there's nothing wrong with wanting to just sit back and laugh at some fart jokes every now and again, people just take themselves too seriously.
>>85626122
It's just normies anon. The horror movie audience is easily the most pleb one.
>>85626623
It's because he's a conservative.
>>85626384
Holy christ what
now I'm mad
>>85626185
Not ALL critics though

Is he truly /our guy/?
Alien Covenant, Ghostbusters reboot.
Praised by critics, but audience didn't like them.
desu, it was shit.

>>85626623
Most his movies are shit. This one was actually pretty good though

what's up with this pic? is his lower jaw really that protruded, or is he trying to assert dominance by looking neanderthal?
>>85626185
Critics seem to review every movie as if they're Best Picture nominees, and it ahows in their scoring.
>>85626122
>>85626643
They are really, really used to slasher shit and jumpscares.
I think critics underestimated the attraction that women used to have towards Ashton Kutcher is all
>>85627783
That
>>85626122
>instills a sense of dread throughout the whole movie.
That's the problem.
Modern "horror" is jump scares and gore.
The original Exorcist would get a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes if released today. The slow buildup of tension doesn't sell these days - they want instant gratification.
>>85627783
>>85628198
Where's the disconnect?
>>85626384
>46%
Fuck those shithead critics. The Burbs is a fucking classic.
>>85626712
>It's because he's a conservative.
Nah, I'm pretty sure it's because his movies are fucking trash.
>critic rating is out of 10
>audience raiting is out of 5
Why the fuck do they do this?
>>85628376
Audience are plebs here
MSM are Generals out of touch with the people. They also Tell you to hate Trump and that he would lose the election, yet the people supported werde always on his side.
>>85628627
Hate it
Dislike it
Has some enjoyable moments
Like it
Love it
The critics get slots between these.
>>85626241
Movie was Tresh
>>85628118
I do think this is a problem with RT and professional critics in general.
I'm all for finding out if a movie is worth my time or not, but cut the purple prose bullcrap out. You're not writing a fucking screenplay, you're reviewing a movie. Baywatch isn't trying to compete with Dunkirk or any other artsy piece of shit film. I don't really care how much of your thesaurus you went over to find six different synonyms for "terrible."
>>85628693
WHY, though? They're no better than us.
>>85628973
>I'm all for finding out if a movie is worth my time or not
Well the real problem with RT is people decide if a movie is "worth their time" based on a percentage score and not much else. They don't even look at the reviews.
>>85627456
I'm actually surprised. This movie wasn't that bad if I recall correctly. I had no idea that critics hated it.
>>85629232
Click has some pretty emotional scenes tbqh. I don't remember it to be that disliked either.
