I believe the exact opposite; the premise and ideas are derivative and trite anime-tier plots but the polish and execution works well to trick you into thinking you are watching something better.

Original Twilight Zone deals with the core concepts without the flashy wrapping paper and specific references to technology that we are supposed to see as the "future".

The only episode I found that was any good was the Christmas special, and the Netflix season is utter garbage.
