could have done it with puppets or actors in suits (Just get really little girls to play the martians . they are short and real skinny)

Speaking of Stop Motion. I wonder if the technology used to have Stop Motion interact with real people has gotten better? it looked "good enough" in old Clash of Titans but when was the last time they used it? Army of Darkness? (and that was low budget even at the time)
