I just saw it, can we talk about it?
The good:
>Meth Damn
>Robert Redford
>Roon Roon
>the score
>the cinematography
The bad:
>Jason Seigheil
>the writing
The writing in particular stood out.
It was like the difference beetween a synopsis and a screenplay: all the story was just a bunch of ideas put right one after another, without space to explore them and every line of dialogue was exactly there to put the story forward and explain to you what was happening. The ideas were kind of bland even tho the premise was neat and werent explored at all.

Sounds like a ridiculously presumptuous premise for a movie, throw in an old Robert Redford and I would rather eat my own vomit than be forced to watch it.
It was a pretty shitty concept and I don't buy Jason Siegel as a neurologist. The ending was dumb.
There are so many more interesting things the movie could have addressed with the original conceit. Like they start off saying WOW WHAT IF AN AFTERLIFE WAS PROVEN AND NOW EVERYONE WANTS TO DIE???
And then the main character's first introduction is basically him saying how he doesn't believe in this thing that you have to believe for the movie to even work.
Wouldn't it have been more interesting if he had to reconcile the fact that he's a doctor and has spent HIS ENTIRE LIFE trying to keep people from dying? And now suddenly his whole way of life and his actual livelihood is kind of in jeopardy?
Fuck this movie pissed me off from a writing standpoint.
