ITT movies that don't need a remake
>>
Modern remakes are awful
>>
Why the fuck would anyone want to see an all CGI remake of Alien? Are you retarded?
>>
Remake TFA to be a better movie with a different cast, director, story, plot, and script.
>>
>>85611395
studio execs:
>the original was ok, but i feel like it was missing something
>a SJW cast
>>
>>85611460
With the progress of cg over the last decades, it's especially monster movies like Alien which stand to benefit from state of the art technology. You have to admit, the original has not aged well in the department of scares.
>>
>>85611638
Are you kidding me? It's still scary. The effects in the original look amazing. Not only do they still hold up but they're actually real and convey genuine fear. Even the best CGI still looks fake as fuck. I don't see how you can expect anyone to be afraid of a cartoon. It's exactly why John Carpenter's The Thing is still one of the scariest films ever created while the prequel that came out in 2011 has been forgotten. The Thing by the way came out only a few years after the original Alien and I doubt you'd say that doesn't hold up.

'no'

case in point, the alien from alien 3 is laughable

>Was thinking how they would ruin Alien with cgi
>mfw Ridley Scott is already kind of doing this
>>
>>85612049
Alien 3 is just a bad film overall.
>>
>>85611638
Even if the CG did end up making the alien look better instead of looking even more fake, everything else about the remake would be worse because Hollywood has declined immensely.
>>
>>85612191
True.

The assembly cut kinda redeems it tho.

I SAID KINDA
>>
>>85611638
>You have to admit, the original has not aged well in the department of scares.

That is because everybody knows the alien life cycle now. When Alien came out in 1979, no one knew that a monster would burst out of a man's chest; no one knew the alien had an acid for blood, no one knew the android was a mole.

These are now common tropes and better special effects is not going to result in a better Alien. When you have a film that is pretty great, it is best to leave it alone. The only thing that *maybe* should be done are minor touch-ups to address very obvious visual or audio errors.

Thus, Psycho and Total Recall should have never, ever been remade.

>The assembly cut kinda redeems it tho.
I really wish the studio executives had left David Fincher alone. The assembly cut is actually pretty interesting and I suspect that without interference, Fincher would have created a good alien film.

Fuck you for thinking this needs to be remade.
>>85617011
Doesn't need to be remade just like the original.
>>
>>85617513
Aliens is the (action) remake of Alien
>>
>>85617656
No it's obviously a sequel. Also fuck James Cameron for trying to turn it into an action franchise.
>>
>>85617513
At some point there needs to be a remake if a franchise wants to stay fresh and relevant, or else it will just be forgotten eventually. You can't expect young people to spend 90 min or more on a culturally and technologically outdated movie just because it kickstarted the franchise once upon a time.

I'm lazy to show all the points but here is a article about it:

https://edgeofthefringe.wordpress.com/2012/08/27/alien-and-aliens-story-comparison/

Aliens is a remake of Alien
>>
>>85609713
maybe they could cast someone with some ass and hips and thighs that would be nice.
>>
>>85617513
>Fuck you for thinking this needs to be remade.
None of the Schwarzenegger films should be remade. The good ones are really good and have stood the test of time.

Remaking the film with better actors would likely fail as the films only require an adequate actor but must have a bona fide movie star who fits the part of an action hero. I don't see anyone today who could fill that role.
>>
>>85623530
Jason Statham
>>
>>85611638
When you're the best everyone pays omage to you. People aren't as scared of Jaws now because it's such a cultural phenomenon. Same with Alien.

A prime example is when Vader reveals he's Luke's father. At the time fucking NOBODY saw that coming. But noe even people that haven't seen any of the films know it. Doesn't make it not a great twist, just means society ruined it.
>>
>>85620582
Aliens is a sequel and that is the canon way to look at it. I'm not going take the word of some random ass article with their headcanon bullshit.

I'd love to see a great remake of the room. To see what it would have been with out Wiseau.

Please kill yourself
>>
>>85623669

didn't click the link but that's not what Anon is saying. Aliens very clearly follows the structure of Alien, almost beat-for-beat.

with the climax for instance, the Nostromo/Hadley's Hope is going to explode, Ripley can escape but chooses to go back and save Jonesy/Newt, Ripley gets confronted by the Alien, manuges to get the drip on the Alien, thinks everything is fine, then it turns out the Alien is still onboard the ship, so Ripley dons a special suit and jettisons the Alien into space.

So basically throwing out the script?

Remake the Harry Potter series on Netflix, making each book a season and how ever many episodes it takes to adapt the full story.

While he's talking about a different movie the logic applies here still too.
>>
>>85624730
Keeping the character names, basic character traits and basic events. But yeah, pretty much a complete overhaul.
>>
>>85623757

It would be fascinating to do this and play it straight. Take the script seriously and try to make it as good as possible, with no kind of wink to the audience. I would rather see James Franco attempt that than an adaptation of The Disaster Artist.
>>
>>85623530
The Rock
>>
>>85624782
>filming the book will make it good
That's not how you nake a movie or film or a series. True art is raping the material. Go read the book you fucking netflix bookfuck.
>>
>>85609713
There are only two things that look like shit in Alien:
The close up shot of Parker's forehead getting smashed by the second-mouth. It's clearly just a brown coloured ball with fake nappy hair on top.

And,

The shit edit of Ash's head being placed on the table. They must have lose footage or something because the cut is really sharp and sudden.
>>
>>85624782
Potter doesn't deserve it. They should rather make a faithful LoTR remake.
>>
>>85626462
> a faithful LoTR remake.

You KNOW that won't happen. Not today.

Leave it be.
>>
>>85609713

As long as the remake goes into greater depth on the bonus situation, I'm all for it. Otherwise, it's a waste of time.
