How would film today look like if World War 1 never happened? Only because of wars governments world wide started funding film productions.

But in the way it happened, it prompted the film industry of Germany to develop for instance. Before WWI only 15% of films shown in Germany were of German origin. After WWI German had a fully developed film industry that would shape European cinema for almost a decade.

In the US Hollywood became a million dollar industry and many modern film techniques were developed to show war itself.
