But pretty much all Bollywood films, even the genre-splicing retarded abomination romantic-drama-tragedy-comedy-historical-epic-biopic-horror-thriller-musicals, are about revenge.
Protagonist motivation in 99% Bollywood films is revenge.
Come to think of it, Korean dramas are the only other popular genre I can think of, and Indian TV is p much the same from what I've heard. Just an inane amount of soap operas.
I wonder why there's so much similarity between Korea and India in terms of their entertainment industries. Obviously not talking about quality here, though. Korean films, at least the ones that make it into international mainstream tend to be way fucking better than any kind of Indian film I can think of.

Finish it. Tbh, when I was watching it, I was kind of bored because I was expecting something else and I wasn't getting it, but about 1/2 way through, I really, really got into it once I started to see where it was going. I think I'm going to rewatch it sometime this week or next. I can't stop thinking about it. Do yourself a favor and give it another shot. Just don't go in expecting a traditional demonic possession story. Keep in mind that what you're getting is Korean Dostoyevsky. It explores faith, sin, theodicy, and the idea of metaphysical evil. The more I think about it, the more I think it might be the director's masterpiece, and I love The Chaser.

take i saw the devil and old boy at the end. the antagonist dies in the lamest way(considering the amount of pain he has caused the protagonist).

in "i saw the devil", the antagonist rapes and kills his wife, and his wife's sister and all he does to the antagonist is behead him giving him the most humane death possible. i yelled at the tv when i saw that shit. The guy who got his balls crushed got it worse.

in oldboy he cuts his own tongue off after realizing he fucked his own daughter and did absolutely nothing. i hate that fucking movie. it fucking pissed me off

To be constantly bested almost every moment, only to finally have that happen to him. BluRay rips got released two months ago, but I have never seen it mentioned on the board, which is strange considering Kim Jee-woon's status. He's not as respected or creative as PCW or BJH but I really love his more 60's European pop genre-influenced sensibility.

It's a really gorgeous looking resistance film, with some pulpy action set pieces but the overall tone is elegiac with themes of doomed friendships in the midst of war, in the tradition of Melville or Leone (the title is a homage to Army of Shadows, and Bittersweet Life was already his homage to Le Samourai). It's the kind of film I wish Hollywood or European filmmakers still made.
