Is the 3D meme dying?

Never. 3d kino will live on forever

it's been dead for years m8
As a marketing tool it died in like 2011
Since then it's mostly just a means for the multiplex to charge more for admission to schmucks still buying into it
3D has been dead for a while, but the 4k meme will be the final nail in the coffin. 4k physical media is less expensive than 3D was and it can be streamed. The fact that we're never ever getting 4k 3D physical media means it's pretty much over.
The only way we are going to see 3D come back for home use is glasses-free or through HMDs.
it was always dead artistically
that's why Avatar's box office doesn't count
It's already dead in the UK
dead as fuck, when will we get some 360° kino?
It better not be dead. I got eye surgery just so I didn't have to wear glasses over my glasses

>having to turn around to see things
that's too much effort
I'm surprised they still make movies in 3d.
For the one or two cool looking shots you can do, you have to sacrifice the speed of editing, a lot of focal depth work, and double the amount of cg rendering.

Actually what they do now with big movies is have one screen showing in 2d and like 3 other screens in 3d, allowing the 2d times to sellout and forcing people to buy 3d tickets even if they don't want to. This happened big time with Force Awakens
3d died with anaglyph glasses

It comes & it goes. If it disappears for now, it'll show up again in twenty years.
