How does it make no sense? We saw Bob's original form most of the time but he would also possess Leland occasionally. We've never seen Mike's original form, only him possessing Gerard. His intentions are still a mystery but him possessing Gerard isn't weird, though at this point we basically have to keep that form since that's what we associate with Mike.
