I watched this when I was 15 and it scared the shit out of me, especially the bit where the old lady gets garroted by her own necklace. The soundtrack was appropriately spoopy as well.
A lot of Argento's films have pretty average acting and the plots don't make a whole lot of sense, but Deep Red was an exception.
I thought Tenebrae had the best murder scenes, even if the ending was ridiculous. Suspiria was stylish as fuck, but it was also pretty silly. His movies tend to be beautifully filmed, but almost always too flawed in other ways to be really satisfying.

What I really don't get is the dog scene. I mean, it's obvious he didn't bite the kid since in the end we see him. So the witch probably used some kind of spell to make the dog kill his owner, at least that's what I thought.
