I'm in my early twenties, so young-ish, but I'm straight and have never been described as effeminate to my recollection. I don't have glasses, that seemed relevant to Cats the other day. Dark hair. They have some of the same problems as Big Finish in a way, excessive output is hampering their creativity and production and all that. The latest thing I played of theirs was their Batman game, which was pretty good, some surprisingly creative takes on that mythology, but it didn't pack a punch the way TWD S1 did or anything like that.

I agree their format could play very well with Doctor Who though. Do you have any specific ideas about what sort of story/ideas could work?

Eternity Clock at least has River blasting Silents but I just want a game where you can be a fucking Dalek. There was an online game around Series 5 which sadly I think don't exists anymore that had you take a squad of Daleks and exterminate armies of Cybermen, Sontarans and Silurians, it was pretty sweet. Then there's the BBC website's Cybermen v Daleks, K9: Deja Who and especially the Last Dalek which were web game kino.

Deadly Assassin is a classic and has some stuff on how e3 had the final scene cut cause of Mary Whitehouse and all that. Does the Shada DVD have the Tom Baker narrated version? That's GOAT. Also Logopolis has a bunch of Tom Baker interviews and stuff, since he left.

He will return, just like Tom, even if it takes 10 or 20 years. Come to think of it, the perfect place to bring him back on-screen would be post-regeneration immediately after Day of the Doctor. That way you can have the older Chris keeping his beard and just chalk it up to the regeneration not being complete or some bullshit.

Didn't he leave because he had an argument with some executive related to a coworker being mistreated that seems like the opposite to me.

Twelve years ago, Enterprise briefly aired alongside the Battlestar Galactica reboot. The differences were staggering.

BSG was a modern (for its time) show, while ENT looked very dated. ENT's production--from the writing to the lighting--was often stuck in the nineties. This was probably because ENT had much of the same people who worked on other Trek shows during that time.

It was embarrassing for Trek fans.

Fast forward to today. Now Star Trek: Discovery will premiere as a properly modern show.

It's Doctor Who that now looks dated in comparison. The show is stuck in the past. Which dramas outside of procedurals do episodic storytelling these days?

But there's hope. Chibnall could very well be the modernizing force Doctor Who needs. The BBC has given him the green light to do season-long storylines if he wants. He has experience running modern shows like Broadchurch.

How should Chibnall modernize Doctor Who?

I'll start: Doctor Who should have an ensemble cast. It doesn't have to be big.

yes. chibnall's good at writing ensemble casts, and the show is at it's strongest when there's at least two companions kicking about to bounce off of each other instead of the predictable back-and-forth when its just the doctor and one companion

Well I'm more inclined to agree with you there, Hartnell's era is easily better than a lot of what came after. Fivey got a few great episodes but they were generally great in spite of him, though I recognise why they cast someone like him after Tom.
In any case, just the fact Moffat doesn't do the dull "durrr all of Doctor Who is perfect" thing (or the maddening Gatiss thing of "durr all of pre-Davison Who is perfect, everything that came after is just some old fuckers with equity cards") works for me, the fact that he critically engages with the show instead of just rides his nostalgia waves.

Funny because he says the opposite
>As a television professional, I think how did these guys get a paycheck every week? Dear god, it's bad! Nothing I've seen of the black and white stuff - with the exception of the pilot, the first episode - should have got out of the building. They should have been clubbing those guys to death! You've got an old guy in the lead who can't remember his lines; you've got Patrick Troughton, who was a good actor, but his companions - how did they get their Equity card? Explain that! They're unimaginably bad. Once you get to the colour stuff some of it's watchable, but it's laughable. Mostly now, looking back, I'm startled by it. Given that it's a children's show, and a teatime show, I think the Peter Davison stuff is well constructed, the characters are consistent... Peter Davison is a better actor than all the other ones, that's the simple reason why he works more than all the other ones. There is no sophisticated, complicated reason to explain why Peter Davison carried on working and all the other Doctors disappeared into a retirement home for lardies. He's better and I think he's extremely good as the Doctor. I recently watched a very good Doctor Who story, one I couldn't really fault. It was Snakedance. Sure it was cheap but it was beautifully acted, well written. There was a scene in it where Peter Davison has to explain what's going on, the Doctor always has to. Now some drunk old lardie like Tom Baker would come on to a sudden, shuddering halt in the middle of the set (and) stare at the camera because he can't bear the idea that someone else is in the show. But Peter Davison is such a good actor he managed to panic on screen for a good two minutes so he had you sitting on the edge of your seat, thinking god, this must be really, really bad. He shrills and shrieks and fails around marvellously. And he's got the most boring bunch of lines to say and I'm thinking 'Oh no, this guy's wetting himself! We're in real trouble!'

Storm Warning is good and I'm already looking forward for more Charley. She seems fun. Also I'm starting to learn Expanded Universe writers by name, feels new and weird.

Don't necessarily have to be filmed right after each other, continuity can handle it, but Capaldi might have spilled something the other day at SDCC when he made a crack about regenerating on the TARDIS floor (lying down, like in a lot of Classic regenerations) then quickly said like "I mean, if that happens"

Old farts hate even the tiniest bit of PC, it's why they like Nintendo so much.
>>
>>85561070
No, queer has evolved into a catch-all umbrella term for anything that falls outside the boundaries of heterosexual acceptability.
>>
>>85561154
Yeah but since when do old farts go onto Doctor Who Fan Show videos.

Okay. L, G, B and T are quite specific categories which don't fit everyone (eg asexual people). But there's still a common ground of experiences between everyone who, for one reason or another, doesn't fit the straight model. So Q was added to sound more inclusive of all of those people.

I don't know the exact history of how 'queer' got expanded from its original usage, but it makes a certain sense. It was originally used to describe gay people because they were seen as troubling to society's sexual norms. But that description actually applies to a lot more people than just gays, doesn't it?
>>
>>85561011
Capaldi's last day of filming was before jodie was announced right?
Does that mean they never had the traditional "see each other in the same costume and give words of advice" thing?

If the thing about capaldi regenerating on the floor is true that would be a fairly easy way to handle the regeneration being shot on different days

plus it would be an easy way to account for the height difference between capaldi and whittaker
>>
>>85561084
Tennant and Eccleston filmed their sides of the regeneration months apart.

I never managed to beat that game.
Always could only get to the last couple of levels where you're chasing the doctor
