If you're up for an extended session, True Detective season 2.
>>85529054
I'd also second this. I'm not sure I'd say it's very depressing, but it really is in the 'black' territory for a black comedy.

VIDEODROME is kinda depressing but also really weird
The Room

A lot of subtly in it, I don't think it fits your edgy expectation but it is definitely somber.
>>85528618
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skulls
That's the last movie I'll see before I go out.
>>85528841
I love it, do you have any more Winona musique? Obviously any Wino fan will know primo Winona kino but just the sample featuring Winona takes this track to a whole other level.

Does anyone have any more music that samples Winona Ryder?
>>85532720
The Wansee Conference documents do show that it was the case. They did industrialize the killing of people. It's not a fine thing when you can compare your track record to communists.
Another rec would be Detachment. The imdb synopsis makes it sound like some high-school feel good flick. Brody is pretty apathetic throughout. Also has mentally unstable jailbait.
>>85533309
>The Wansee Conference
typical kike tricks
Angst ?
>>85533573
>documents seized from the German Foreign Office are tricks
What about the Soviet side of the story ? They did liberate Auschwitz. They found pretty much the same things all over. Starving prisoners and well-fed guards and surrounding population.
Children Underground

Fly on the wall type documentary. Filmed in the 90's just after the revolution in Romania. Behold the glory of communism.
>>85531507

>>85532722
Oslo is great. You said you've seen Le Feu Follet -- they're based on the same novel, so if you liked that you'll like Oslo.

"Berlin gave me the blues. We have destroyed what could have been a good race, and we are about to replace them with Mongolian savages. And all Europe will be communist. It's said that for the first week after they took it (Berlin), all women who ran were shot and those who did not were raped. I could have taken it (instead of the Soviets) had I been allowed."
—General George Patton

>>85534200
What's the difference between a concentration camp and a death camp ? In one they work you to death and in the other they shoot or gas you ?
You don't need to remind me of the savagery of soviets, they passed through here on their way to Germany. Old people used to tell me that during the war, the Germans were far more courteous when they were here, trading or bartering for goods. Soviets just raped and pillaged.
>>85534307
>bolder in its vision of politics than any movie Stanley Kubrick has made
And suddenly all respect for said movie and VarietyThere was never any respect for variety
>>85534408
>What's the difference between a concentration camp and a death camp ?
It's hard to say, you might be able to ask the Japanese Americans about it though. Oh right, those were INTERNMENT camps... Haha... Wildly different to be sure. Allies did literally nothing wrong.
Pretty sure the understanding is that one is a work camp where you might die if you rub the evil Nazis the wrong way or if they just feel like it or if they need more soap and lampshades and the other is a camp they have solely for the purpose of gassing you and 6 million others like you to churn out fine lampshades and soaps.
>>85528618
Inferno by Vinko Moderdorfer (Slovenian drama, can be found on partis.si). Trust me.
>>85534884
They did imprison the Japanese in America but I doubt they worked them to death. They had food and even schools. Families were allowed to stay together.
Seems to me the difference is that the concentration camp probably changed to a death type if disease, hunger and exhaustion didn't do the job quick enough.

>>85530988
I watched this movie starting from like 5am after a party with the two other people who were still up, to avoid waking up the people passed out on the floor we dragged it out on to the balcony of the city apartment we were in and watched it there. Throughout the movie the sun slowly came up and also we all were fucking freezing and shivering by the end. 10/10 experience, I'd never even heard of the movie at the time as well.
Try Hana-Bi/Fireworks. It's not the heaviest it could be but it's nicely shot so it's worth it for the soundtrack alone.

good rec, good film
I couldn't finish this it was so depressing and unremittingly bleak
give it a whirl
Blade runner
>>85528618
Plague Dogs
Watership down
Grave of the Fireflies
The Little Match Girl
Remember, these characters are animated. When they die, they never come back in some other movie or anything like a live actor does when making a new movie. They are dead forever.
>>85542588
I couldn't finish it because it was pro-immigrant propaganda for France before the invasion. That director went full retard for that shit in his movies.
Come And See
Nell
The Vow
>>85541779
also some recs for you OP. stroszek and plague dogs are out so i havent got much, these are mostly a stretch
Naked - only rec that really answers your request
happened to push my buttons but likely ymmv:
Crumb - documentary
The Red Chapel - really interesting documentary, sort of
not really bleak:
Being There
Repulsion
Chungking Express
Of Gods and Men
Mary & Max
there's also evangelion if you can stomach weeb shit, and the miniseries gunbuster but i was also really drunk for that
>>85540833

these aren't bleak but melancholy
/weeb/ is ok with me
you'd like Hedgehog in the Fog
>>85543277
holy FUCK
aggressive and uncalled for
>>85543306
<- this had me super excited until I saw it's only 11 minutes, but thanks, will check it out. if weeb is alright try tatami galaxy as well, it's more melancholy at worst but i suspect people with shitty wasted lives would find it more depressing. if you're willing to go even more off-board try Oyasumi PunPun if you haven't already read that, it's a little on the nose sometimes but when it's good it's great
