Help me find the name of this movie /tv/

It was a fairly mainstream early 2000's film about a teenage girl who was a goth or alternative or something. It took place in Southern california. The movie is about her missing or running away from home, she doesn't go too crazy. Several scenes took place in a mall, I think one of the main characters worked there.

I know that's not alot of detail, but there aren't that many movies about goths. I'm positive it was released in the early 00's and it had a pretty famous hot young actress playing the main character.
