If you consider the amount of time you have to invest in watching a television series and how much storytelling is done during that time, television has awful value for time. A good film will be able to construct a fleshed out world and have an interesting narrative in a fraction of the time it would take a television show to do the same. There's a reason why television can only attract B-list actors and writers, it's simply an inferior medium.
