If you want some more post-apocalyptic stuff wrapped in a lightheaded and childlike atmosphere then I'd reccommend Eureka Seven.
It starts off a bit slow and episodic but picks up later on as it moved into the main plot.
Another suggestion is FLCL which is closer to the nonsensical aspect of AT
