Criterion is known for putting out the absolute best versions of many classics. The people who hate Criterion are usually bitter that their old Criterion release got a subsequent better release when a better source was found or there was a more elaborate and evolved restoration done after the fact thus rendering their old version inferior so they write off the entire Criterion collection and all the numerous releases that are still the definitive version of their respective film because they got burned.
didn't they run out of classic movies deserving of proper home video releases almost a decade ago and have just been releasing whatever?
