Mark is the best critic working today. When you compare people like Stuckman or RLM to him then their complete lack of knowledge is just embarrassing. Say what you will about him, but he understands cinema and has a genuine love for it. Most youtube critics just want cash from click. Film criticism is a dying art.

Because they are paid to criticise film. RLM & Stuckman are both probably paid far more than Kermode even though they are like gurgling babies and regurgitate and copy a lot of his stuff in their own reviews (comic book girl is also very bad for this).

Nolan is the only director making original films with massive budgets these days.

I appreciate that he has very consistent opinions, which is pretty much what I look for in a reviewer. I don't always agree (more often than not I don't), but his reviews are a good indication of whether I'll like something or not.
