I can't believe the best Trilogy I've seen since Star Wars is fucking Planet of the Apes.

I love this timeline.
>>
>>85489819

I liked it, but not as much as I wanted to. It wasn't the movie we were sold by the marketing and the trailers, so I spent a lot of the running time waiting for that movie to start happening, rather than enjoying it for what it is. I think it'll improve on re-watches, though I'm only cautiously optimistic - it feels like a shrinking of the world and the lore for a very intimate character study, as opposed to a social/ political parable.
>>
>>85490541

I loved it exactly because it wasn't what the trailers showed.

It was a Western which turned into a prison-break movie which turned back into a Western. Fucking flawless fun.
>>
>>85490647

That seems a strange reaction, but I'm happy you liked it. It's probably the only time I've seen a movie that I felt had been misrepresented and mis-sold and not resented it, or felt disappointed afterwards. And I'd say it turns into a Biblical allegory, rather than a Western, at the end, since it involves Caesar leading his people out of bondage to the promised land.

Starts out kino as fuck. But after the assassination attempt it just goes steadily downhill.

SPOILERS

Naah, it retained my attention all the way through, it was paced perfectly, and even managed to balance the whole ultra depressing atmosphere with a bit of comedy even though it was borderline cringey it was well timed so that it actually made me laugh and he remained loveable.

Plus the speech made by the colonel about his reasoning was one of the best deliveries I saw in a while.

And that ending was fuckin epic I don't get how you say it went downhill with all that.
>>
>>85491203
>And that ending was fuckin epic

Not in my opinion. The final battle was anticlimactic as fuck. Harrelson was great though.
>>
>>85491203
same loved the ending battle
>>
>>85491341
> Grenada launcher
> double gas tank explosion
> avalanche

> anticlimactic

Why do you think it was anticlimactic
>>
>Films I won't go to
>Won't watch review of
>Won't even watch trailer.
>>
>>85490705
I felt the same way as that guy. I'm actually glad it was a more personal story rather than just being all out action.
>>
>>85492607
The apes sit out the actual War for the Planet of the Apes - that would be my guess as to why it felt anti-climactic. I didn't have that problem so much, though.
>>
Question about the mutating virus though. We were shown that it removes people's ability to talk but does it really do more than that? The little girl showed no signs of decreased intelligence.

i have rise at 8 and dawn at 9, they were super pleasant surprises, therefore the third installment was easily my most anticipated film in the last two years. but buy oh boy, did it stink or what...

pros:
>god-tier digital apes
>pretty good opening chapter
>great action sequences, especially at the beginning
>woody harrelson
>the actress playing the little girl
>the avalanche looked spectacular

cons:
>yes, the apes looked amazing, but eventually it turned into closeup porn, i get it - you're proud of your work, now move on pls
>too much ape melodrama
>basically the entire story was told from the apes' POV minus the minor part of the colonel's exposition
>ridiculously misleading marketing and movie-title
>there was no any war, just two battles for two different bunkers and one commando raid led by the colonel
>except for the de-evolved girl, trust me when i say woody harrelson and his bow 'n' arrow sidekick were literally the only human characters
>the opposing militant faction literally got 10 seconds of screentime before getting avalanched, they all had masks hence were stripped of any personality/humanity whatsoever, they only served as a cannon fodder for mother nature's victory
>the film's prison break part took on for way too long and really killed the movie
>heavy-handed social commentary on jews & nazis, blacks & whites, the whole thing looked like it was written by a jew and a negro
>>

2/2:
>the little girl doesn't shed a tear for her father but cries a river for a gorilla, i guess the message here is we need to bring down the collective iq of white countries in order to become better half-people, dude just stop caring and go with the stream lmao
>shitty military tactics, the first attack was lolworthy, the soldiers being packed together while attacking uphill, just ridiculous
>the colonel's bunker is literally cornered for an easy invasion from like 3 sides at least
>i'm sure you can think of many more
>the little girl just walks right into the apeshwitz and feeds caesar
>on-the-nose message that says "apes good, humans bad", woody harrelson uses the catholic crossing to silence his army, shaves his head, owns a crucifix etc.

what went wrong, it felt like totally different people made this movie.

I thought this was a really low quality film overall. Just lacked any of the depth and complexity of the originals, none of the monkeys felt real like in Dawn, where their characters are fleshed out and layered. Here they're fucking two dimensional cut-outs, I've seen fucking domestic apes with more personality.

3.5/10, and that's being kinda because the CGI is ape-tastic

Reminder that Orangutans will be the first species of Ape to rise up.

opinion discarded

she had fresh blood on her face, she just recently had gotten sick. Which obviously means her brain has been dumbed down and she now fails to recognize anyone she knew before brain deterioration in any meaningful capacity .

watch the movie while it's playing instead of brainstorming fresh memes and noticing nothing.

Ignore him. He's been reposting that shit in every Apes thread.
>>
>>85492951
>her father

No evidence that he was her father at all in the film. He could have been many things to that little girl, blood related probably wasn't one.

false, the mutated virus doesn't wipe out your memory. watch the movie, fagott.

Wow this is extreme nitpicking a lot of stuff you just said without any evidence

-It's a dramatic film what do you expect
-The humans didn't really have a side, they are literally dying out and trying to fight the inevitable. So creating a plot from the human side would be a waste of time, the speech by harrelson was only the needed part.
-There was a war between the apes and human and the Humans ended up winning and use the apes as slaves, but the whole point was that humans ended up killing them selves.
-The other military's interest was to destroy the base Fleshing them out would be useless to the plot.
-And I can't see why letting nature win is a bad thing. And the avalanche was due to the two gas tanks exploding. So yeah humans killed themselves.
The prison break sequence was kinda longer than I wanted it to be but it kept my attention, every scene had something to add.
Yeah when ever there are prisoners of war you have to link it to hitler, that stupid.
-The little girl didn't see her father get killed and at her age probably never saw anyone die. whereas she saw the gorilla get stabbed and die right In front of her.
-muh white race is getting attacked by this film
-I don't really care about the military tactics all I can deduce is that the place they were build on was the safest place from the simian flu and the first attack was ok with the number of people there were.
The girl walked in on the right time really there weren't any guards present and since she was de evolved she didn't know if she was in danger or anything. It was a plot device to restore ceasars mercy for humans, ending with the decision not to kill the colonel.

The colonels speech perfectly justified why he was doing what he was doing and even showed that he kept his kids photograph beside him, his reasoning behind it wasn't that he's selfish or evil. It was that with war you need to sacrifice to survive even if he has to give up what he loved most.
