Sam Hyde is just a poor man's Chris Morris.

All of his presentations are great, the college talk and Anime convention are absolute gold. His rants are also great, as well as the vertical/mirror videos. Kickstarter TV is probably his best work, hilarious stuff there. Also worthy of mention is his stand up, especially when he pisses off the crowd. Some skits on the show are also pretty good, but I prefer solo Sam stuff over any of his MDE work.

Not everyone can appreciate Sam Hyde’s humor, at least not immediately. It takes several repeated viewings and a bit of luck to really appreciate what Hyde is going for. To help illuminate his overall message (which itself is wide-reaching but inevitably can be boiled down to: better yourself, better the world), I am going to elucidate his video “Ideas Man,” a video that, to the random passerby viewer, whose viewing tastes may only be as evolved as understanding content that is spoonfed, is nothing more than goofy toilet humor at best. But even to the critical reader it takes time to appreciate Sam.

I should make it known that it was tough for me to realize at a certain point how inaccessible Sam’s humor can be, similar to how an English professor can forget how intricate Shakespeare is. So, if at any point I seem to be making obvious points, it is only to help those who don’t yet understand Sam’s message. If someone does indeed claim to understand Sam’s message and disagrees they tend to resort to calling Sam’s humor adolescent or alt-right. If I do anything in this piece I hope I can at least make it clear that Sam’s videos go deep, and even if at times I do not interpret them correctly, at least I can show that they can be interpreted for something that deserves more praise. Hopefully I can clear things up and we can all view this objectively, as Sam does. Only then can we realize his dream and be better off.
