The movie wasnt about finding Amy Dunne. The reason she was so cold in that reveal scene speech is because America never really was looking for her, they were looking for Amazing Amy. The news you see on tv always sensationalizes the victims best traits to make them tragic heroes and appeal to the bottomfeeders. The search was never for Amy, but for an idea that her parents shilled long time as ago as an "amazing" girl.
