The only strange thing about it is that Dougie is actually a different character who was in the show briefly, but we don't really have a name to distinguish him by at this point. It's all made more confusing that none of Kyle characters appear in the credits. Even the Doppleganger has no official name. Some of the characters call him Mr. C, some call him Cooper. This is partially right but I think that Lynch believes that even if he didn't initially come up with a story for the movie that one evolved organically during filming. And I think that makes sense. I've read several interpretations of the movie that fit well and are in line with Lynch's spiritual views. And when watching the movie for the first time it didnt feel random. Even if the scenes were initially shot with no context there is a noticible flow and connection between them even if it's not as overt as most movies.
