They said it was not gonna be another boring origin story and... that's what it was. Another fucking boring Iron-Man-1-template origin story. I admire the easiness with which Marvel produces this kind of self-contained superhero origin movies packing the whole beginning, training, conflict, villain, resolution within 2 hours. You can see by watching Suicide Squad that it's difficult really to make something like that with some coherence, left alone make such a competent movie like Doctor Strange was. But we're talking about one of the, if not the most, weird comic book creations out there, with a vast array of possibilities for creativity. In that respect it fell horribly flat, disappointingly short. Of course this is the idea of Marvel "going crazy" landscapes and creativity. It's sad, really. Maybe it was the director's fault, I don't know. Dormammu was alright, but overall not an inspired movie. Fun, entertaining, well produced, yes, but nobody wants just that. Not anymore.

I thought it was great. One of only two movies I've ever been glad I watched in 3D IMAX, other being Avatar. Only real complaint was Cumbersnatch's American accent, they should have tossed in a line about how he went to school in Austria or some damn thing to explain the randomly mispronounced words.
