I think GoT in general is just shitty now. The show was better in the earlier seasons of 1 and 2, it was interesting, they had interesting characters and awesome actors. Now I dunno, it's just lame and instead the show is filled with the exact opposite.

It's the difference between saying quietly to someone sitting across the table from you that you're going to cut their throat, and shouting loudly in a throne room that you're going to CUT HIS HEART OUT WITH A SPOON.

The actors are not portraying emotional discord anymore. That said we're doing pretty good on crazy. Euron is gr8.

Every scene where the acting is bad it is because the point of the scene is to show how Jon snow reacts to X, or how Daenerys reacts to X, all the horrible scenes are "Character sitting in throne trying to speak to it's vassals", and when every vassal is a no name stock big guy, it gets dull.

All the good actors are dead.

Kit Harington is awful Sophie Turner is awful. Maisie Williams is awful. Emilia Clarke is awful. Richard Madden was really the only one in that bunch that was any good.

Peter Dinklage is good, horrible fake accent, guess he can't really help that.

Any other good actors have minor roles now.

The writers and directors are to blame with the shitty story arcs and wild changes to how characters react to situations. I expect this to happen when they past the books but I didn't think it would be this bad.

They played it good. They hired the great, expensive actors for the roles that were going to die either soon or at least before they run out of material. Those actors were the ones that carried the weight of the show. Had they hire someone like Kit Harington to play Ned this show would've never made it past Season 1.
Right now, a few minor roles disregarding, most of the actors that are left are horrible. But the fanbase is already huge, and at this point most of us want to see how it ends.

I still think a lot of the season one cast is fine. Kit only truly struggles when the writing is bad like when it's a D+D written episode. Alfie Allen has done a good job throughout. Peter never gets good dialogue or scenes anymore.
It's what happens when a shows drags on for this many seasons. Everyone gets complacent and lazier. For all this talk of a TV golden age, no one has really mastered how to make a show consistently good for 6+ seasons, otherwise we'd see more shows like that.

They killed a lot of the good actors and the few that are left don't have any good material to act with and often just stopped giving a shit ages ago.

I thought the season 2 finale of the shield was the best. The shield and soa just came stale to me after a while. So many episodes were just turncoat events and then explaining to the crew why this new direction is better than the old even though it's the complete opposite. Which was the opposite of the direction before that to begin with. Repeat ad nauseam. Breaking bad suffers the same problem but to a lesser extent. You just can't do that shit and stay immersive for seven seasons. You see it coming a mile of, and it's fucking boring. But I'm writing from what I remember, So I might be wrong. It's just a general feeling I got watching these shows.

I've got a theory to delude myself into thinking the show is still good :

Danaery's war council is only constituted of politicians who don't know shit about war. Grey Worm is the only real warrior in there but no one cares about what he has to say and he doesn't know shit about Westeros anyway. Yara and the Iron Borns are notorious for being shit at land warfare, they only do raids.

During the war council scene, the only people talking are Danaerys, Tyrion, Varys, the Dornian woman, the Tyrell grand-ma. They're all politicians not military men and it shows. They take the decisions to make themselves look good in front of the population rather than achieve military objectives. Here are examples :
>send the Unsullied across the continent to Castral Rock when the Tyrell army is right next to it
>Send the Tyrell army across the continent to siege King's Landing when the unsullieds and dragons are right next to it because it'd be bad for their Public Image
>send Yara's fleet to Dorne when they know that Euron controls the seas (reminder Yara and Theon were fleeing from him)
>lay siege to King's Landing eventhough the city is by the sea and they don't control the seas

So really it shows that Dany's is surrounded by competent politicians but shit military strategists. Despite her superior army and Dragons she'll get destroyed and never sit on the Iron Throne because she doesn't know how to wage a war. It'll mirror Robb's war since Robb was an excellent military strategist but a shit politician.

So far the only one that got along with his way is Littlefinger.
But you have Theon betraying the Starks and killing random kids. What happens? He gets justice on the hands of Ramsay, is tortured and castrated.
Ramsay gets justice on the hands of Sansa. But since Sansa simply made justice against that guy and nothing else wrong she's safe so far.
Same will happen with this. The sand snakes and Oberyn's gf committed and unspeakable crime (killing an innocent girl and her innocent lover) so they are getting their due. Eventually Euron will get his due too, and so will Cersei and perhaps Jamie.

As others have said all the good actors are dead. Even the ones that are still alive can't bring anything good to the show because of the absolutely cringeworthy dialogue and script. Just listen to Tyrion or Varys in the last episode and compare them to their banters in season 2.

And in the first seasons the bad actors could pull a line competently enough because of the good script and good directing. Emilia Clarke isn't a good actor but at least the directors knew how to utilise her.

the first few seasons offer a truly fantastic setup that feels like it's going places. the disappointment sets in when you realize that it's never going to actually follow through on the great setup with anything of note. seasons 1-4 are fantastic, but 5-7 turn into the most schlocky generic fantasy drivel possible. At this point I'm rooting for the antagonists to win because absolutely fuck everything this show has become. Burn it to the fucking ground.

Keeping the plot "moving" at King's landing is obviously the hardest shithole in the writing right now and the scenes show it.

None of it is unexpected.
I didn't expect the dickless sex scene. I ain't afraid of the SJW boogeyman like some are, but that scene gave me genuine chills.
