I know it was a different time, but did Raimi really think he could get away with such blatant product placement?

Just finished 2, and though it's good, I disagree with the idea that it's better than 1. 1 is just so much fun, from the novelty of Peter learning his powers, to Dafoe's GOAT Saturday Morning Cartoon performance as the villain, to JJJ, to the upside down kiss - all of it just works perfectly. 2 is an excellent sequel with great moments of its own, but it drags a little in parts, while 1 is completely entertaining from beginning to end.
