DVD is a considerably more elegant format than VHS, but I have no personal attachment towards it, and neither does anybody else. It's weird, to have this entire generation of home video that nobody seems to give a shit about. If I can't have HD, then I'd rather have the charm of VHS over DVD any day. I won't even bother watching it, otherwise.

DVD was kinda shit too but for different reasons. Interlacing, lossy audio, standard definition with shitty MPEG2 compression, DRM. Blu-ray wasn't that much better in the grand scheme of things, the jump to HD being a plus but not one the actual format itself helped.

I think we had some Jackie Chan movies on VCD like Drunken Master, but the holy grails for my VCD collection as of now are the Filipino English-dubbed box sets of Voltes V and Daimos, too bad they skipped over Combattler V, but the real holy grail will be The Esoteric Retina VCD which was made by Osamu Sato (the creator of LSD: Dream Emulator), and it is very rare to the point that it's currently classified as lost media, and considering that the finding of fellow Osamu Sato work Chu-Teng was but a miracle, looking for The Esoteric Retina would be even harder.
That is, it will be my holy grail if I ever get an actual copy of it, but I'm fine with it circulating on the Internet.
