It was much better than I expected it to be. The voice acting wasn't bad at all and the art direction was perfect for the source material. Some of the frames were really beautiful too. I felt like it suffered from lackluster animation at times, and also it was way too short. Four episodes for an anime is barely enough to do anything with. As soon as the plot started going somewhere it ended. There just wasnt enough meat to it. I felt like Trevor was a bit wonky as a character in it as well. In the first episode they do a good job with giving him a unique personality, but in the next to episodes he goes full Squall and picks up a "whatever" attitude.

In the fourth episode he regains a bit of that personality but it was a bit of a drag. Watching someone go from bursting with personality to a complete rock is jarring. Just my 0.02 cents though. Looking forward to s2.

I marathoned the first episode in the course of a week and I have to say it's okay.
I've been marathoning episode 2 for about 3 days now and still have a while left to go.
It's getting interesting but I'll make my decision after another 4 more days of marathoning episode 2.

Agreed. Here's why
Warren Ellis had originally planned for a movie trilogy, crafting the first one as a kickoff to the series which, near the end of production, was picked up by Netflix. These first four episodes were originally a singular film (hence why the pacing and separation of them are so fucking jarring). Rather than have them (Ellis and crew) pump out an entire season and drop it all at once as per the norm, they tested the water regarding it's marketability by releasing this first entry. It was Ellis' decision to split them itno episodic format, as folks unfamiliar with the property might find a 20 minute interval with a breather inbetween a bit less of an investment on something they're taking for a test drive.

That said, this has been a resounding success. Ellis has already confirmed we are getting 8 more episodes (movies 2 and 3) to round out a complete twelve episode season. These are slated for an end of 2017 release fyi

no original or remixed castlevania music was the biggest let down for me. overall a okay series with very good potential

The animation is pretty lazy at parts. I liked the first episode but I noticed in the 2nd episode that the animation had alot of characters not really moving much except for their mouths
