Real talk my buddy swears he almost got beat up by Musk here in Phoenix.
He was drunk as hell eating at Los Betos (this fast food Mexican joint that's open super late), and Elon was supposedly there with a chick. My buddy kept ripping ass, and Elon told him to quit the shit, but my buddy kept farting just to piss Elonoff. Finally he gets up and is going at my buddy and his crew has to hold him back.
My best friend swears this is true and really isn't the type to lie. He didn't even know it was Elon Misk until he coincidentally saw him on TV just a little later. He thought he was just some rich middle eastern dude (have a lot of those in Scottsdale)

Tesla have paid their ATVM loan back early and with interest, SpaceX has contracts with the government, meaning the government gets something in return and only pays when milestones are reached or a service is rendered. Not to mention that SpaceX is doing it cheaper than others (it is estimated that NASA would've paid between 4 and 10 times as much money had they developed a Falcon 9-equivalent themselves).

so what would motivate an AI? humans mainly follow basic instincts but an AI wouldn't have those unless you specifically program them in.

let's take survival instinct as an example. humans don't want to die and if we see something that could be a threat we try to get rid of it. if you assume that an AI would think the same way then getting rid of humans would make sense for it but why would it care if it lives or dies?
the only way I see this happening if the AI is programmed to learn from humans and adapt our behavior.

If you knew everything down to the precise layout of the brain and every neuron along with the state of the brain and its various hormones and whatnot and actually understood how it all worked, then yes you could. The only reason why things like neural networks are different is that they're far simpler.

Or to put it another way, if you had an exact copy of each, that exact copy would show you what each was going to do assuming you could perfectly replicate their input.

Facebook isn't better than MySpace, it just came along at a more fortuitous time. You can't even change your background ffs, everyone's page is just the same shit over and over again. And Bebo had that thing where you could put the youtube video right on your page there, that was great. Facebook is lame shit and always has been, its success relies entirely on being around when broadband was rolling out and suddenly people could be online all the time.

one is a loyal and intelligent wife who has been with him for a decade, has had and will continue having his children, will give his children high IQ genes mother genes to almost match his high IQ father genes, and will stay with him faithfully.

The other is a trophy wife home wrecker who has never had children and doesn't plan to , her only asset - her looks are rapidly fading, she's clearly only with him to cash out on the divorce because her career is floundering, she probably won't have his children and if she does it will only be one and she'll do a crap job of raising it and won't pass on anyhigh IQ genes to it.

Here's a brief article that illustrates some of the possibilities and directions that space agencies are considering right now with genetic engineering.

There's a very clear emphasis on developing microbes capable of producing renewable resources and coding proteins to help combat side effects of prolonged exposure to radiation and zero-gravity.

Different anon here. The very fact it can't learn morality is the reason it'll never be the same, it can't understand motivation and tactic. The machine can only REACT. It can't act on its own, it has no conclusion or sub conscious stimuli. It would never be able to decipher the randomized deceptive behavior of humans.

Morality is just another part of the state and layout of the brain. Unless you're supporting the idea of a supernatural characteristic like a soul (and if you are, fair enough), ultimately it's a system that can be reproduced - it's just incredibly complex.

So your hypothesis is that you're correct if you have a hypothesis that proves you correct. Good job

It's not hard to test for true randomness. Ask any person to tell a random set of number and they will never fail to give you a random set of numbers. There won't be any patterns. Some numbers may appear more frequent, but the position will wary. Do the same thing with a computer and eventually it will repeat itself.

>Ask any person to tell a random set of number and they will never fail to give you a random set of numbers. There won't be any patterns.
I doubt this is actually true. A friend of mine's grandfather once told us a story about when he was a travelling salesman. He would have a card with him, and would challenge people at the door to guess the number between 1 and 10 on the card to win a 'prize.' The card had a 3 on one side, and a 7 on the other. He almost always got to use the card and play along, and when he couldn't he'd explain the trick and tell them they were special.

>>85453049
>So your hypothesis is that you're correct if you have a hypothesis that proves you correct.
My point, my needlessly snarky friend, is that each is a system, and while they are very complex, they can be reproduced. The only way out of that is to claim people have a soul. The one additional caveat I'll raise is that someone mentioned chaos theory - I don't know enough about either that or neurology to comment on its implications.

Jesus, that is some psychotic over analyzation. Zuck probably learned his body posture and eye contact routines from business savvy coaches. I'm positive he doesn't waste his time thinking about dominating conversations and making people feel uncomfortable, he's just trained to sit upright and make eye contact and probably has a strong handshake like literally every businessman is trained to do. Effectively, yes. While there will no doubt always be limitations, I think you're drastically overestimating the limitations we face in the current day and thinking they'll be anything but an irrelevance to future humanity.
>Science is limited by our reality
Wrong. It is limited by our perception of reality, and the more we work out how to change that perception the more we can bypass those limits. To give a simple example here; we can't see beyond a certain threshold of light spectra or hear beyond a certain threshold of sound frequencies. With tools we have invented however, we are able to measure and observe these things.

Would depend on what the goal of the AI is.

Right now, our goals are in a stage of evolutionary transformation between survival and curiosity. It would probably be just confused about what the goal of life is supposed to be, and having no synergy to determine it on it's own, it would hibernate and run calculations on it in a loop till the heat death of the universe, or until it fries itself.

But I don't think Mr. Musk or Mr. Zuckerberg approached this from an AI psychology standpoint, or even human psychology standpoint, to even a philosophical standpoint. I think they both approached it from a mechanical standpoint, and disagreed on whether they could program it in a way that it would be unable to rebel, wherein Mr. Musk is intelligent enough to know that he can't, and Mr. Zuckerberg is arrogant enough to think that he can.

Neither really covers the full scope of AI discussion. But that's just my opinion.
