Besson decided to skip right to "the good part" without the comics that actually build your interest in the characters.

Dane looks like a 40 year old teenager.
They tried to have a twist when they showed the villain do something bad in the first half hour of the movie.

The trailers looked like shit. Typical modern day sci fi shitfest. GotG is unironically the only decent sci fi made this decade.
