He was always a quietly wise, dependable, and pretty badass character who Cooper himself said that if he ever needed to be found, he hoped Hawk was leading the search. I saw Dougie Jones at a bakery in Nevada yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

When she took the pie out of the box he stopped her and told her to scan each slice individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at something past me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned the slices and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by saying "hellooo-oooo" really loudly. Then he took a whole unsliced pie anyway and took that instead in the box.

From a purely structural point of view it's pretty disjointed. It starts with one story for about 40 minutes, says "fuck it" then moves on to a different film until the end. There are also many elements which need to be taken at the second degree (like Lil's dance) and when you don't know they need to be taken as such, I guess they could make some people roll their eyes. The film also expects you to know some characters already and doesn't "properly" introduces them before getting into their weird quirks, which could cause people who have never seen the series to disconnect too. FWWM aged well in my opinion, but it's not that hard to see why it got a lukewarm to polarized reception when it came out.

The shows starts by dashing all expectations from the fans of the original series, and the first seasons characters are painted with broad enough strokes that I doubt anyone would have a hard time figuring out what kind of character they're meant to be. In the end the show thrives on allusions to things it never refers to again and other mysteries, so even a if a few older references are unclear, I doubt that would make a big difference.
