What do you youngster think about The Andromeda Strain (1971)?
I feel that somehow, even in the 70s, the government would have some kind of record or note that the female had epilectic seizures from flashing lights

Crichton has written exactly 0 good books and exactly 2 of them became good movies.
good kino.
I might be not that young (still under 30 tho) but I think that The Andromeda Strain is a very well made hard-scifi movie, the set pieces especially are truly impressive even for today's standards.
It's a great book but the movie is just alright desu

It was a good movie overall, kinda slow at times though. Way better than the 2008 made for TV remake
Was Sphere a good movie or an incomprehensible mess? I enjoyed it but I read the book beforehand and I could imagine it would have been hard to follow if I hadn't.

This always bugged me too. The only explanation I've ever been able to come up with is that she'd gone out of her way to hide it, maybe even from official medical doctors.

I remember watching this in the theatre when it came out, I think I was only 10 or 11 and I remember understanding it perfect fine, but my parents didn't get it at all. I think it just requires you to think outside the box a bit.

I thought it was boring, but I do respect it as a very rare attempt at actual sci-fi.
