Does this show get better after the first couple of episodes? Episode 1 is edgelord deluxe and episode 2 is 3deep5me. The acting, pacing, and directing seems fine, but so far it doesn't seem worthy of the praise I've heard. It's not bad, but if it doesn't really get better I might try to find something else on Netflix.
Yes.

Do the premises get better? The first couple have glaring flaws that I can't totally ignore. For example, we're supposed to believe a random artist manages to kidnap a princess while she is under protection of the secret service (or UK equivalent) and the gov is totally rekt by him? I know it's just a show, but when that is your start it just kinda hurts the episode. For episode two, the whole concept is kinda dumb with the 'biking for power' thing, given how inefficient it is. It wouldn't even generate the power that the people use in the show. And for being in the future, it looks like we never really got past Nintendo Wii graphics.
I'll give the second episode that it at least wasn't super predictable. I genuinely thought he was going to kill himself when he picked up the glass, and when he was going to the Hot Shot, I thought that he was instead going to try and kill the host. It was nice that they actually threw me for a loop.
