does external AC3 means there's no embedded audio in a video file?
i'm torrenting a 48GB torrent of 8 movies and each movie has about 800mb of ac3, so was hoping to avoid downloading it.
Are the ac3 files the same filename as the video? In most players when you play a video it scans the folder for same named subs and audio. Since the audio is external i expect there to be no audio in the mkv/mp4 so you will need the ac3 files

no, the name is not the same as the name of the video file.

that was what i was afraid of. could've saved on 5gb data.
sucks being living in a capped cucked country.
ask YIFY

What sort of massive shitfest are you downloading that someone has stripped the audio from the container has it just sitting there externally?
I can only assume its a secondary dub or commentary track because those are not always wanted.
Why the fuck any encoder would put the actual audio track outside the container is beyond comprehension.

maybe i should download 1 video file, and see if it has embedded audio. the smallest video file is 4.56 GB.
and then see if i'd like to download the rest of the video files from the same torrent.

it ain't yify torrent.
it is ETRG.

this is what i assumed before adding the torrent to my pc.
i hope the ac3 is an extra track, like a director's commentary or maybe some other language.
right now the only solution i see is downloading about 5 gb of video file and see if it has audio or not.
if it turns out to be extra commentary or some shit than i won't be furious.
this is the one - https://kickass.cd/harry-potter-complete-collection-2001-2011-1080p-bluray-dts-etrg-tt14673063.html

The link (which I will not click) literally says the audio is DTS, which makes the dolby ac3 audio most likely some random shit like a commentary track or a dub someone has added on top and couldn't even be bothered to mux into the container.

okay, thanks.
that sort of clears it.
>which I will not click
god, you live in a worse country than i do, right?
kek.
thanks again, though.

No, but public tracker sites are garbage and all the clones of them that get put up are filled to the brim with as much shitty scripting as possible.
I have no reason or want to visit such places.
