i love the movie. saw it with a group of friends again yesterday. most liked it, but at times were distracted. one was being a bitch and kept talking about gossip and shit because she wasn't into it. wanted to roundhouse her in the face but didn't.

It was shit.

Could've been better if the autist man could actually act like an incompetent person, also the girl wasn't even necessary

I thought all the humor landed flat, the action wasn't great and the plot was pretty derivative noir. If it had actually been a funny Raymond Chandler-esque story it would have worked.

It's easily one of the better, more recent comedies.
I couldn't name a better mainstream comedy that come out within the last 5 years.

I liked it but to be fair it's poorly directed with no build up. A lot of jokes go on to long (like the pretend to be dead protest) which seems more like a sitcom joke
Black used "edgy kids" for humor way to much
The main mystery was too involved for this type of movie really.
A lot of jokes just kinda stop without a punch line. Which might be funny if it happened once, but it kept on happening . Seems like Shane thinks everything he writes is gold and doesn't want to cut anything
Give the script a proper director and it would have been a a great "mismatch buddy cop action comedy" film

Was there any set up for the talking fly? Seemed too random to be funny. At least the Nixon joke was previous set up
Honestly I was hyped up for an R rated buddy comedy when I saw the trailer but was let down by final product.
Still overall I enjoyed it though

Horrible writing. Just a bad movie all around. Nothing funny or entertaining about it.

I thought the girl they were looking for was the dead porn girl from the beginning because she had an obviously fake name.
Really the overall mystery could have been streamlined to make the pacing work better

The funniest movie I've seen in a couple of years.
