Voyager s07e05 ~34:00.
The doctor is kidnapped and sold to a hospital where patients are treated poorly. The doctor's program is controlled by the hospital allocator which transfers the doctor's hologram to his patients and tells him how much time he has to treat each one.
At ~34:00 minutes the computer transfers him to a different location and then immediately after in the same scene the doctor has his holo emitter on his arm. If his hologram just appeared how would he already have the emitter on his arm??

Maybe it is because I am on the spectrum but Sisko just seems like someone with strong moral values who goes into tough guy mode when he meets someone who is basically a massive cunt according to his standards. It seems fitting for a starfleet officer who has been sent to the boonies to deal with all sorts of bad types. It has to be someone who understands how the real world works and doesn't "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" and go off on a tirade like Picard when something triggers him, while at the same time someone who doesn't like it or respect it.
>>
>>85348146
My guess would be higher speeds put more stress on the Enterprise, thus requiring more maintenance when it they don't necessarily need to go to places as fast as possible. There could be things like experiments they want to be done before they get somewhere, or maybe their sensors work better so they can explore while they travel. Granted that doesn't necessarily explain travelling super slow but most ships in real life rarely go their maximum speed except in battle.

In addition to being wrong about it being a bad episode, this part is also wrong, it's a moon or another planet or something that they want to star mining in a way that will make it uninhabitable. Blind prejudice about episodes with a certain plot point is a counter-productive mindset.

Bull, the Genetic Engineering backstory was great. And it gave more legitimacy to why Bashir wanted to serve in a backwater station. He was doing everything he could to not bring attention to himself while at the same time, wanting to serve the public good. Since at his core he was an idealist who's values were never compromised. Yes, people did look at him differently after the revelation, but that's no different from any other character plot twist that's not a one off thing.

Is this in the original timeline or JJ Abrams poor man's Star Wars universe?

No, and the fact that Picard had qualms about it and decided against it makes no sense. So what if the drones had the potential for sentience, it's not like it is possible to separate them all and bring about that sentience without totally destroying every large collective of Borg in the galaxy, in which case if you had done that(basically impossible with the Borg's numbers and technology) you would have murdered billions of these supposed "people" anyways. The Borg were and are the single largest threat to The Federation, and sentient life as we know it, E V E R.

It's like if you had the option of blowing up a ship filled with 100 people who were brainwashed into being cult members on it(who could possibly be made to think like normal people again, although they would never be their old selves again), or allowing the crew of that ship to launch a nuke at a city of 100,000 people. Yeah, it's regrettable that you can't save them, but it's not at all worth risking all life as we know it because maaaybe you could bring them back.

>And it gave more legitimacy to why Bashir wanted to serve in a backwater station.
did he need that thought really? I was fine with him being a young and eager idealist who wanted to take on shitty, but profitable (for his career) jobs in backwater places. That worked with his personality pre-genetic engineering relevation. Adding some bullshit about 'well he actually took it to hide this YUGE secret' kinda cheapens the story and is frankly really irrelevant. It didn't help that you could see Siddig really not liking the storyline at all. He was much more dull in his delivery afterwards (not always, but whenever his now super-duper mindpower was brought up he became so one-note).

they are not slave, they are part of the collective, is an ant a slave to the anthill ? every descision made by the borg is the result of a tought process that included all the drones, but as they believe that the needs of the many outweight the needs of the fews *wink, wink* they sometime make the conscious descision to sacrifice a part of the collective for a greater good. In a way they are a twisted and perverted federation because like the federation they want peace through armony and to expand their knowledge. when they annonce to the soon to be assimilated specie that "Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own"and that "Your culture will adapt to service us" they are no different from the federation.

It does because it adds a whole other level of temptation for Bashir to go over to the dark side other than working for Section 31. He is both physically and mentally superior to everyone else on the show, but chooses not to flex that might opting to be normal instead. It's to show that not everyone who is genetically engineered is a megalomaniac like Khan. And how Bashir stayed true to his ideals.

Plus it brought a whole new level to why Bashir wasn't the top of his class in that he intentionally got the question wrong on the final exam not because he was scared of being the best, but because he wanted to not bring excessive attention to himself or thought that someone in his class who got their on their own merit should be the top of their class.

see, this is also a problem I have with the storyline. the reason he even got that one question wrong was a writers fuck-up. in any other situation, you'd awknowledge the mistake in an interview or whatever and leave it be. but they had to explain it and eventually wrote the genetic engineering storyline in for Bashir. in my opinion, and I realise you might not agree, a writer is allowed to make mistakes, especially in a universe as big as the Star Trek franchise and not have to later on find a way to explain why the mistake exists in-story. the fans will do it, that's natural, but you the writer don't have to. Bashir's GE storyline feels too much like it was thrown in because of that. I agree that his later involvement with Section 31 was interesting and probably Bashir at his best, but otherwise him being a non-malevolent Khan didn't matter much so I never saw the point in it.

It's entirely within Sisko's character to not like those periods in human history. As a Federation citizen, he's naturally repulsed by the 20th century and the fact that he's proud of having African American heritage, it makes perfect sense for him to have troubles with it.
He's not going "Muh inequality, gib me reparations, gib me affirmative action".
His opinions have nothing to do with his present.
He's proud and if he lived in that time, he could not have been a prideful person
>>
>>85354254
Your clearly projecting, though. Don't get me wrong, I definitely think they cast the black woman as a way to be "progressive", but there's no indication of that the show is about how evil white men are(let's be real, the show's producers aren't going to be this blatant) in any of the trailers beyond "The main character is a black woman.". By your logic they could only ever have a white male as the captain otherwise they are automatically saying white men are the devil, which to me sounds childish. The show looks like shit for reasons other than the casting, like the shit CGI and cliche writing and bad alien designs.

I doubt revealing Bashir was genetically engineered first came up because of his muffing an exam question. It just happens to fit well with it. DS9 would have been better if Ezri had been a dude and Bashir still tried to pursue him. Not as pro-gay propaganda or anything, just because it would have been more interesting than replacing a pretty young woman with a pretty even younger girl.

>>
>>85365523
The shows were fine
The problem were the movies

First Contact should have been Sisko vs Picard
Imagine this
>Borg refugees come back to Earth and say they want to be human again
>Picard says "Let 'em come"
>Sisko flies out and is like "Yo fuck that"
>Begin battle
>The former Borg keep pushing and eventually they force their way past the acknowledged borders
>Sisko shoots them
>Picard says no and shoots back
>CONFLICT

I'm not Hollywood writer, but that's a situation that screams potential

Voyager was my first Trek series (I'd seen bits and pieces of others, but never really followed a series until Voyager was airing, then went back and watched the others).

Honestly, just power through it. S2 is tough because while there are a handful of genuinely good, standout episodes, most of the season is really really shit. There's also a handful you can probably just outright skip. What episode are you on?

Also, take comfort in knowing that the show starts getting notably better around a third-to-half of the way through S3.

The one where Admiral Janeway contacts Picard should have been Janeway as a crazed lunatic stealing an Intrepid-class for some looney reason, gathering her old crew, and going all Khan on Picard. After a long mid-battle debate, the finale should have been Janeway firing everything in a last ditch and underhanded effort to destroy Picard's ship, with Picard using the 'Picard Maneuver at the last moment, showing us two Enterprises on Janeway's malfunctioning screen, the salvo passing harmlessly through the mirage, then panning to a look of utter defeat on her face as she collapses to her knees, surrounded by debris and bodies, phaser blasts rocking the ship as the Enterprise makes sure the stolen Intrepid-class is fully defanged.

Even if it's fanfic-y as hell, it's a hell of a lot better than clone Picard and buggy driving.

As for statues on Cardassia, I don't see how Garak could get away with NOT commissioning statues. Damar is the hero of the rebellion, beloved by all the people. Garak needs to capitalize on Damar's mythos if he wants to put himself in power.
