You have to understand, everything on post-book GoT comes back to fanservice. EVERYTHING. This is correct. It would be pretty cool to see the Sons of the Harpy get killed by Dothraki, so they're standing outside the gates killing upper class Meerenese for some reason. The dragons burst out of the wall just as Daenerys arrives so we get more dragon action. Jon facing down an army by himself looks awesome, so they have him charge at Ramsay's army all by himself, despite him previously showing composer when faced against a white walker. People want to see Theon back Yara in the Kingsmoot, so he just gets to the Iron Islands from just outside of Winterfell with no problems at all.

There are so many examples in season 6 and several in the first episode of season 7 (the bear loli for example). Nearly every scene is fanservice or for an 'epic' event to take place.

I really hope that Jaimie and Cersei don't suddenly win every battle they get in to make them a threat again. At the end of season 6, they were about to be at war with the Reach, Dorne, a large portion of the Iron Isles, and Daenerys with her dragons, thousands of Unsullied and Dothraki.
