Well I don't know about you guys but I think the new Saw movie, titled Jigsaw looks phenomenal. It seems as if the geniuses at Lionsgate are really evaluating what went wrong with the admittedly, poor sequels and are making appropriate changes to the series. This is Saw for 2017! I have no doubt this new film will be able to provide us with the spills, chills and kills we all want to see! With over forty million trailer views across all platforms, I have no doubt Jigsaw will be a bloody success for Lionsgate and a scream for audiences. This October, our favorite puppet is coming to take back Halloween. Rated R.

I can't think of a favorite one. But from memory I think the one I thought was the most brutal and unfair was the room in the first saw movie.

>naked
>covered in flammable goop
>entire floor covered in broken glass
>code to lock on wall somewhere
>room too dark to see
>have to use matches while covered in the goop
>limited matches means only so many tries
>also I think he was poison?

It was just too much.

I know some were designed to be unfair and that was the point, but some kind of took me out of the moment because it's just ...from the moment they explain the trap it's like "okay well even if they got out of this they'd surely die anyway?"

>>
>>85340572
That's it. He couldn't do it and the door was locked anyway. If I remember correct it was a copy cat jigsaw killer
>>
>>85340817
Jigsaw was infact a very petty and spiteful man who wanted to punish all everyone who he felt wronged him in his life (his doctor, insurance guy, the police, guy who killed his babby)

His traps were only slightly more survivable than the Amanda and Hoffman traps and if they did survive it was only so they could suffer trauma for the rest of their life. He didn't care about rehabilitation.
>>
>>85340572
It was hooked through his jaw, which is solid bone, it would be impossible to do unless he tore off his entire lower jaw, which would surely kill him via blood loss from not just that but the accumulation of all the hook wounds. He was never intended to live.

Not to mention the two in his feet severed his Achilles' tendon when he ripped them out (making it impossible to stand) and Amanda had welded the door shut.

>>85340572
He wasn't supposed to. iirc this was the one where you see multiple traps that are clearly unfair and it's because one of jigsaws apprentices is working out of anger/revenge instead of actually testing people.

They get more dumb the more thought you put into it. The tape this guy gets gives absolutely no indication of how the one in his mouth is going to be removed, so instantly you should realise he doesn't stand a chance, kind of ruining any drama there is. And that's not including the fact that he'd probably bleed to death/be in an absolutely abysmal state after ripping the others out.
>>
>>85340817
Jigsaw always used innocents in his games, ever since the first movie. He had Cary Elwes's wife and daughter to be murdered if Cary Elwes failed. Jigsaw is a deluded old man, he is not sane, why would you ask such a question?

Depends if you're a pretentious 13 year old armchair critic. It's fun.
>it's dedication to continuity is literally unmatched by any other movie series in the history of cinema
>tightly woven story spanning across seven films which becomes very convoluted, but is a big part of it's charm / appeal
>fun traps
>lovable heroes / villains
>lost-styled mysteries spread across the series, mysteries in saw 1 dont get paid off until the final movie
They vary in quality, but all of them have a degree of entertainment value. The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. It's cool to see a story like this so tightly tied across seven films. They were made for money, like any sequel is, but you gotta give them credit for actually caring about entertaining you. They genuinely tried.

The entire Saw series is kino. You have to be a patrician to see the brilliance and ambition.

To be fair, Saw 6/the carousal trap was a special case in that the people on the carousal were some of the most unspeakably evil people in the series.

Basically, they were the sorts of soulless preppy shits who work for medical insurance companies, who's ONLY JOB was to find ANY loophole for said insurance company, to void peoples member's insurance the moment the company had to pay out ANY money for someone's medical treatment.

Hell, their introduction had them being introduced as a unit, who's sole job was to find ways to fuck people over who spent years paying for health insurance once a person put in a claim needing said company to fulfill their end of the arrangement.

Which in turn is based off of real life death panels: insurance companies, before Obamacare stopped it, could VOID your insurance via any and all loophole they could find no matter how small and innocuous, if they wanted to avoid paying for your treatment. And actually employed entire divisions, who were paid for one task only: finding a way to void a person's insurance the moment they needed it.

To be fair, the traps that have no escape is a major plot point for the later seasons: IE with the exception of the doctor from the first film, all of Jigsaw's acolytes were generic serial killers who rigged their traps to kill without any chance of escape, because none of them believed Jigsaw's mantra that sadism/near death experience builds character and makes you appreciate life

I know, i'm trying to make a point but i'm struggling to remember the movies well enough to do it because i'm a retard. I think some of the FAIR traps are unfair is the gist I guess, the pound of flesh trap was a fair one with a winner who gets to leave, but I mean you're asking people to cut off their body parts, and the cutting isn't clean its violently hacking away at your own flesh. By the time they got proper medical attention they'd probably be dead to blood loss or have a bad infection.

Those ones bug me because john was involved so it's meant to be reasonable, but has a very high chance of killing both participants and all they did was loan people money it's not like they're horribly evil.

As a child you love the Saw movies because they're fun and ambitious.

As a teenager you hate them because you're pretentious and "way too mature" for them.

As an adult you love the Saw movies because they're fun and ambitious.
>>
By Saw 7, it was pretty clear that they had run out of interesting ways to kill people and so the traps kept getting more elaborate rather than interesting. i.e. Someone gets burned to death again but this time it's in a giant pig furnace.

I really do wonder about the new movie and how they'll keep it interesting.

it depends on how much you see yourself in the trap. Basically the only one I find scary is the carousel because it relies on your ability to persuade a stranger.

To be fair, there have been a couple of traps throughout the franchise that have been made it easy to make it out with minimal damage but you're pretty much trying to think about your life and if you can escape such a fate.

The greatest example is in Saw V where the huge reveal is how everyone could have survived with some damage and blood loss if they had just worked together.

The Saw V gag was too fucking stupid though. The first room, why didn't the first one who escaped just smash the other 4 boxes and get everyone's keys? The second room it was blatantly obvious to anyone but a 2 year old that you can fit more than one person in each tube, they're fucking huge. 3rd room, just soak your clothes in water and tie it to the electrodes or, presuming they're not idiots and made it to that point with all 5 people, do as was intended and each grabs one. Final room, just piss in the measuring cup, or spit/puke in it, or throw your clothes in it etc.

For 1 and 2, yes. 2 is a bit more gorey but 1 is almost suspense based. They have flashbacks to his earlier victims as they explain who he is and there's a sequence involving the one person to ever escape one of his traps (she becomes a very important character in the later movies) but for the most part 1 is about the two guys chained in the bathroom. Apparently Jigsaw got impatient later on because those guys get hours.

3 is where things get a lot more gruesome, ie the wrack.
>>
>>85351220

That's pretty much the point I was just trying to make as these guys have already pointed out

>>85351273
>>85351331

all that working together shit isn't something you usually think about in a life or death situation. Even when people were being more calm about shit in like Saw...what. II? III?

You still had that one odd or unreasonable motherfucker making it hard for everyone else.
>>
>>85351838
2 didn't really have any more gore but added in a lot more really uncomfortable shit. Getting thrown into a pit of used needles isn't gory at all but is still easily one of the most horrifying prospects to me.

This kind of legislation is usually viewed by Republicans as "blocking freedom" because it places restrictions on business. However, rational people can see how this sort of legislation is needed to help the consumers. So, claim it never happened all you want. >nuh huh you're lying your premiums didn't triple, plus some people's only doubled
Oh shit I guess we're cool then, I'm now totally fine with subsidising health insurance for people who didn't care about getting any in the first place

You are a child.
>>
>>85358065
Yet I'm the one paying for other people's insurance

Non sequitur. Your inability to engage in honest political discussion (what I deemed childish) has no bearing on what you pay for with your taxes.

The rain it falls upon the just
And also on the unjust fella
The only difference between them is
The unjust has the just's umbrella

You aren't adding anything new to the conversation with this post. All you are doing is saying another insult and saying that you pay taxes. Those two things have noting to do with the validity of my argument.

Only taxpayers are allowed to have arguments.
>>
>>85359005
So you choose to ignore all my arguments and only address me assessing your intelligence. You must work for the DNC

This is about as dumb as saying "only women are allowed to have an opinion on abortion". And the only reason you think I don't pay taxes is because... well there is no reason. I am a taxpayer whether you like it or not.
