1 is better on a simple story stand point, as in, Wick's motivation is much simpler to understood and to get behind than the forced contract work he does in 2.

John Wick 2 is superior in almost every aspect to the first one.

It's like they ran out of budget towards the end of the first one, which explains why everything after the Nightclub scene and John fighting Miss Perkins feels so lackluster in comparison. JW2 makes it's predecessor feel like a straight-to-video movie.

Raid 2 was a bad movie.

Instead of following in the constant intensity of the first movie, it's just a bogged down by the numbers crime film with a smattering of good action sequences. All of the dramatic scenes are too boring, dull, cliche to make any of the action worth it.

I liked the John Wick movies, but the second took a real long time to pick up. Once it was the second half though I'd say that they did some good work. Disregarding the catacombs fight being a bit boring, I enjoyed his scene with the sister. And common wasn't half bad most of the way through, but I would've liked some more dialogue.

Where the first one had you instantly going: "man I wonder when he stars killing du-" and clocks you with the bathroom and tub scene, then the nightclub.

In 2 you already knew what he could do, but they spent almost an hour building him up again. Building up motivations is fine, but I don't think the car scene in the opening needed to be that long. All we needed was the exposition that shows this Russian is related to the last, then the screams before Jon enters the room. 2 was a little too interested in showing you he was John Wick.
