The beginning scenes of the Outlaw Josey Wales is one of my favorite onscreen portrayals of the Civil War. Bonus points for my favorite war montage:

>General Lee, suh

Glory and Gettysburg stand out to me as some of the finest. While it is a romance primarily, for period piece drama it is hard to top Gone with the Wind. It is an excellent film.
I never saw Spielberg's Lincoln. Is it any good? His later movies have usually been pleasant but forgettable.

Daniel Day Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones are great. Everything else is pretty forgettable.

Gods and Generals was a great film. Though it was revisionist as fuck
