The real problem of the WW2 for France was that it had no adapted at all to the new art of war. By this I mean the use and abuse of blinded vehicles, air strikes, etc. This was partly what greatly change the tides of the stallmate during WW1 with the involvement of the british and american armies. Nobody in the high commandmant thought that an assault like this could ever occur.

Secondly, after the traumatic WW1 everybody thought that another world war could never begin again.
